Dear Quilters and Friends,
Quilt Land Explorations is taking off to Kenya for this once in a lifetime opportunity to combine the love of textiles and wildlife into one amazing trip that you won’t want to miss!
We will spend 10 amazing days exploring the best of what Kenya has to offer; with our group of like-minded individuals with a love of all things fabric, quilting and handicraft. Our trip starts in Nairobi where we will explore the best Kenyan textile markets and shops. Here you will find bargain prices on Maasai Shuka, Kikoi and many other locally produced goods. You will even have the opportunity to have a tailor-made Ankara with fabric you have just purchased!
Next, we will depart Nairobi on a picturesque drive to Lake Naivasha with a visit to a museum dedicated to wildlife conservation, a boat trip and high tea with lunch with the lake as a serene backdrop. They day ends at a beautiful lodge in Lake Nakuru where you will spend 2 nights. While here, we will take a safari out into the National Park which is home to seas of flamingos, gazelles, leopards, waterbuck and many other wildlife in their natural habitats.
No trip to Kenya would be complete without a visit to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve where you will have the opportunity to visit with Maasai Warriors, shop handicrafts made by Maasai widowed women and learn all about the village life they live. While staying at our beautiful camp we will take numerous game drives out to look for zebra, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, lions and more! Don’t miss the opportunity to take part in a sunrise hot air balloon ride with a bird’s eye view of this magnificent place.
As our journey through Kenya comes to an end, we finish off our trip with a stop at the Kenya Quilt Guild to visit with the Patchwork Quilters who also share a love for the art of quilting before we say farewell to all of our new friends we have made along the way.
We hope you will join us on this trip of a lifetime!
