Tropicolor
Instructor | Pat Delaney |
This project is a wall hanging using a beautiful tropical fabric. We will use a technique with watercolor pencils and stitching to create “shadow images” continuing the design into the solid fabric. Once the image is in place we’ll layer the quilt and use free motion stitching and color to finish up. You will end up with a quilt that can become a wall hanging or pillow and have a permanent memory of a fantastic vacation. This is a “kit only” class to ensure you have the right fabric to work with. The kit fee is $52. |

Mermaids at Sea
Instructor | Renee Fleuranges-Valdes |
Mermaids can be found in folklore for hundreds of years. Spanish Conquistadors spoke of sightings of Sirenas during the 1400’s, African tribal folklore and art has celebrated Mama Water and Yemoja from before the Middle Passage and even the Irish tell tales of mystical creatures called Selkies who are half woman and half fish. So it is no wonder that modern day art, music and film are enthralled with the wonders of mermaids. What a more fitting place than to create your own, Mermaid at Sea. Join me as you create an underwater scene centered around a beautiful mermaid. I will provide several different mermaid drawings for you to choose from, along with other marine creatures and scenery that you can use to create your own underwater fantasy. We will spend the day using fusible web to create our fabulous masterpieces. Start collecting your water inspired fabric and let’s spend a day at sea, conjuring up images of our own modern mermaid tales. | ![]() |

Class notes: Holding a quilt seminar on a cruise ship is a unique experience. Sometimes there are space and time challenges that prevent our being able to be “project oriented” and we must concentrate more on process. It is very unlikely that you will have an absolutely finished project at the end of a class. It is helpful if your expectations match these realities. But regardless of how far you are able to progress, our instructors are professionals—some of the best in the quilting world—and we know you will learn many new techniques and have a wonderful experience!
