What to wear
Country club casual is a part of life on the AmaLyra. Winter weather on the river can be unpredictable with possible snow and rain so warm coats, mittens, scarfs and hats are recommended—the “layered look” is a must! You will need an umbrella. We will embrace the season! The temperature in each cabin is individually controlled for your own comfort. Bring comfortable shoes to wear in port, streets are often uneven or rough. Dining onboard is country club casual every night, with the Captain’s night being somewhat more formal.
Travel to and from Paris
Cruising aboard AmaWaterways
Please note this type of travel may present difficulties for people with disabilities. Wheelchair accessibility is very limited on our European ships. We do have an elevator between the two main decks, however it does not reach the Sun deck or Piano deck. They would be able to move around the dining room and lounge in their chair, however the rooms are not able to accommodate a wheelchair, so while in their stateroom they would need to be able to move around on their own. Their chair would also need to be stored in their stateroom, due to limited storage on board. Getting on and off the ship, could be a challenge, as the planks are narrow and cannot accommodate a wheelchair or scooter’s width. They would have to be able to get on and off the ship without their wheelchair and the wheelchair would have to be light enough to be lifted off and on the ramps. It is common to tie up to other river ships in port. When this happens we would sometimes need to travel through another ship to disembark, with many ships requiring we do so from the Sun deck, where there is only stair access. During the excursions, a good majority of the cities visited have the cobble stone walkways, this may be a challenge to maneuver with a wheelchair. The motor coaches we use as a main means of transport do not have any sort of lift and there are 4 or 5 steep steps to get on and off.
The purchase of trip cancellation, travel accident and baggage insurance is strongly recommended. There are many uncertainties and unforeseen circumstances involved in our world; therefore we strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance. It will provide coverage in the event of cancellation of your trip due to unforeseeable sickness, injury or death to you, a family member, or a traveling companion. In addition, it will provide coverage for travel accidents, baggage loss or damage, and medical evacuation. This insurance coverage is available at a rate, which varies by your age and the cost of your cruise. For specific rate information, please click here. You will be completely covered, waiving all pre-existing conditions, only if the insurance is purchased at the time of deposit, and you cover the full amount of your cruise, including taxes and fees. Please complete the section on the registration form (online or pdf) regarding insurance. We cannot accept your registration unless this is completed and signed.
