Free Motion Grids and Lines, Oh My!
Instructor | Jenny Lyon |
Day 1: Fabulous Grids! Grid-based designs are all the rage right now and for good reason – they add lovely texture and look fabulous nested among curved designs. Bonus – they are easy to quilt! We will play on a pre-printed panel and learn a wide variety of grid designs that enhance any genre of quilt. Day 2: Straight Line Ruler Work Straight line ruler work is an ideal way to try ruler work – you only need one ruler! You’ll get accurate results with little or no marking, and it’s fun. I will show ways to incorporate straight line ruler work into any kind of quilt. Your kit includes a pre-printed panel and a unique ruler that makes straight line ruler work virtually fool proof. This is a great class for a newer free motion quilter, as ruler work simplifies the process. Appropriate for those with just a little free motion quilting experience. Kit required, $44 – One pre-printed panel quilt sandwich for grid work; One pre-printed panel quilt sandwich for straight line ruler work; unique straight-line ruler. Printed lines wash out of both panels. |

Diamonds and Rust
Instructor | Chardel Blaine |
What quilter doesn’t have fabric scraps that are too small to anchor a project on their own but are too big to toss? This throw-sized quilt uses two colors of scraps with a uniform background to accentuate the design. Complementary or contrasting colors help define the design. There are just two easy blocks in this quilt. The unique setting looks complex, but it’s all made with squares, 4-patches and half-square triangles. If scrappy is not your thing, the pattern includes yardage requirements to make the quilt with three fabrics. | |

Applique Glacier Bay
Instructor | Jaimie Davis |
Join Jaimie in this one-day workshop and discover the secrets of making quilted landscapes. Not only will you learn how to construct this stunning souvenir quilt, but you will also learn how to make it your own. Do you prefer raw-edge or turned edge appliqué? Do you prefer the Aurora Borealis to the Milky Way? Would you like a simple, straightforward project or something a little more complicated? Whatever your preferences, Jaimie will teach you how to think like a designer and show you how to play to your strengths – you will discover that it isn’t nearly as hard as you imagined. And with her quick and easy glue technique, you can construct the quilt on the ship and both stitch it and quilt it at the same time at home. Flexible and easy paced, this workshop promises to be a lot of fun. |

Grizzly Greetings
Instructor | Chardel Blaine |
Will you see a grizzly bear on one of your shore excursions? If you’re lucky enough to spot one, it’s best to not get this close! Whether you see one in the wild or not, you can still have a souvenir of this iconic Alaska resident. Get precise turned-edge applique results with an easy-to-use leave-in applique foundation and a water soluble glue stick. The hand applique stitch makes the pieces appear to float on the surface.
